Greg Hooped

Greg Dixon has had a lifetime of experiences with immense variety that all contribute to Shared Visions Unlimited Multimedia Publishing.

Here are some highlights:

Early Days

  • Awarded a scholarship for a summer art program in Grade 1.
  • Played percussion in school bands.
  • Excelled in math, sciences, and history in school.
  • Studied Literature, Philosophy, Psychology, Photography, and Music in college.
  • Eventually (it took many years!), decided that the best Philosophy and Psychology was in Literature and graduated in Honours English Literature with an emphasis on Russian novelists like Leo Tolstoy, Fyodor Dostoyevsky, and Alexander Solzhenitsyn at the University of British Columbia (UBC).
  • His most inspired academic paper was on Herman Melville’s Moby Dick.
  • Worked in farming, fishing, mining, landscape gardening, and more.
  • Interested in computers and published articles in magazines for the Commodore 64
  • Developed and sold a program for the Commodore 64, Apple II, and PC called English Structure and Style.

Middle Years

  • Greg went to the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) where he learned many computer languages and related skills.
  • Worked for a large systems integration company called SHL Systemhouse, including Programmer, Team Leader, and Systems Architect. He also edited the branch newsletter (writing more than half of every issue) and ran some special interest groups.
  • Contracted as a Technical Writer, Consultant, and Project Manager for various firms.
  • Worked with an HR Assessment company for over twenty years part-time designing and implementing online psychometric assessments for things like Management Assessments, assessments for specific positions, and a custom Values in Action assessment that every candidate for a position at the largest telecom provider in Western Canada. Fabulous money while it lasted.
  • Greg has published hundreds of online articles and some magazine articles.

Recent Adventures

  • Greg was always interested in using video for stories and training. He has 10,000 hours into doing interviews with family, story productions, keynote presentations, conferences, music productions, stage productions, marketing videos, and some quirky music videos that still get a lot of views.
  • Greg then got interested in Marketing and Course Creation influenced by Kim Walsh Philips, Marie Forleo, Jeff Walker, Dan Kennedy, Dave Dee, Rich Schefren, and more.
  • Greg is a long-time member of the American Writers & Artists Institute (AWAI) and attended two Copywriting Bootcamps in Delray Beach Florida.
  • There he met Lori Allen in Florida and subscribed to courses on Travel Writing, Photography, and Video.
  • Greg has been to almost all Canadian provinces and territories, most US states, All of the UK and much of Europe, plus Hong Kong (on a weird business mission), Singapore, Malaysia, and India (the airport in Seoul, South Korea probably doesn’t count).
  • Greg has been in a comprehensive Integrated Marketing collaboration with Roy Dickan, Betty Withrow, and Referral Partners called Total Traffic and Conversion for the last few years.

  • He has formatted and uploaded a number of books to Amazon Direct Publishing and published audio recordings on CD Baby, available on “Everything that Pays!”.
  • Greg coordinates two to five streaming broadcasts on various subjects every week.
