Greg Dixon ! How I Provide Value For Your Stories, Publishing, and Marketing

The bottom line is, I have a lot of experience and tools for Multimedia Publishing and Marketing.

I have also helped people capture and publish their Personal, Business, and Family Stories.

And, to be honest, most people have asked me to help them get stuff done using technology they don’t want to learn. That includes:

  • Video production.
  • Websites.
  • Marketing tools like Kartra and GoHighLevel.
  • Audio production.
  • Live events like concerts.
  • Speaking.
  • Membership programs.
  • Book formatting.
  • Book covers.
  • Email and Social Media Marketing.
  • Desktop Publishing.
  • Copywriting and Editing.

The Golden Publishing Sales Machine book and membership program I am working on will cover all of that for people who want to do it themselves or have me manage the process for them.

Also on my list is a book or two on Family Story Productions.

Early drafts and some training are already in the Golden Publishing Sales Machine Launch Kit Membership.

What is Your Golden Offer for the Hub of Your Golden Publishing Sales Machine?

Do you want to build authority, leave a legacy, and attract people to your Golden Offers with the Golden Publishing Sales Machine?

Greg Dixon with a golden mandala. What if the Hub of Your Golden Publishing Sales Machine?

The main idea of the Golden Publishing Sales Machine is to use a wide range of media publishing to attract customers and clients to Your Golden Offer.

One way to visualize this is as a wheel or sphere, with Your Golden Offer as the Hub in the center.

Published content, such as your book, could be the Golden Offer in itself or a lead magnet for your Golden Offer.

What Is Your Golden Offer?

Every person has a different goal for publishing and a different focus for their marketing.

For most authors, the book itself is often their Golden Offer. The book is not a lead magnet for anything else, as they are busy writing the next book.

The book itself would be at the center of their Golden Publishing Sales Machine.

For a Course Creator, the course or membership program would be the Golden Offer at the hub of their Golden Publishing Sales Machine.

For you, it could be customers and clients.

The Golden Offer for concerts and theatre productions is a ticket to the event.

What is the goal of your marketing?

How the Golden Publishing Sales Machine Works

Start by visualizing a marketing wheel with your Golden Offer as the centre Hub. Here are some ways of attracting people to the offer:

  • Blog Posts with Search Engine and AI Search Optimization
  • Social Media Posts
  • Video and Audio Podcasts
  • Publicity and/or Advertising on print, radio, online, and television media outlets.
  • Links from books and other media. QR Codes work in print media and live presentations.
  • Networking
  • Email

The Power Posting Strategy

Here is a Power Posting Strategy I routinely use for my own offers and for clients. Here is how it would work for you:

The first step is to compose a short article or post about your product or service.

The post could be an overview, a case study, a client testimonial, a special offer, or any other content that builds awareness and attracts potential clients to you and your offers.

I create the blog post with Search Engine Optimization (SEO) in mind and submit it to Google Search Console.

Then I create variations for posting on social media platforms, including LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, and other relevant sites.

The posts can be the whole article or a shortened version with links to the blog post.

Then we send a variation of the post to your mailing list via email.

Building an email list and creating email campaigns remain one of the most effective marketing strategies for achieving long-term success.

A variation of this is to use StreamYard and a social media poster to publish a Video Podcast on LinkedIn, YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram.

If appropriate, I will use Buzzsprout to syndicate the audio to podcast platforms such as Apple Podcasts, Spotify, iHeartRadio, Amazon Music, and more.

Audio Podcasts will reach a different audience than Video Streams.

The Golden Offer will appear in searches within hours. We can measure traffic to the Golden Offer.

Sales are the main measure of effectiveness.

Putting the Multi in Multimedia Publishing

Whether your book is the Golden Offer, part of the Golden Offer, or a Lead Magnet for Your Golden Offer, publishing in multiple formats will increase your audience.

Here are the many ways I publish books and courses for myself and clients:

  • Printed Books and eBooks
I currently use Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing and IngramSpark. I am looking at other options as well.
  • Flipbooks
Fabulous for giving away as Lead Magnets.
  • Downloadable PDFs
    Perfect for Lead Magnets.
  • Multimedia Experience Editions
I use Kartra Memberships to collect audio, video, images, text, and more for books, courses, media collections, and family stories. GoHighLevel would work for this as well.
  • Audio Books
I am listening to audiobooks and will release an audiobook of my next book across many audiobook platforms.
  • Blogging Website
My All My Relations website at allmyrelationsbook.com is an experiment in releasing a book as a website.

A blogging website is perfect if your goal is to have your content available to as many people as possible.
  • Serial Publication by Email
You could send out a chapter a day.

I can help you publish your content on some or all of these platforms and implement landing pages and sales funnels.

The Webinar Offer Hub

For some of you, presenting your Golden Offer in a webinar could be the most effective way to convert people into clients, customers, or collaborators.

There is a reason Tony RobbinsKim Walsh PhillipsDan KennedyDave Dee, and many others present offers at live events and presentations.

Your marketing mission then becomes attracting people to register for a webinar. Live is best, but evergreen webinars convert too.

I can help you prepare and host webinars and other presentations.

Whether you are starting with little more than an idea or have a book or course completed, I can help you through your entire publishing and marketing journey.

Can I combine books and courses to generate sales?

Something to help people or businesses have better experiences?

Or simply your own stories?

Marie Forleo

The world needs that special gift that only you have!

Marie Forleo

I am something like a Zen Master at getting information out to audiences worldwide across a wealth of platforms.

Here is what I do to spread the word of my own visions for the world. I can do the same for your visions.

Blog Posts

Most content launches start with a blog post like this one.

Often, I will write directly in WordPress or draft in Google Docs.

I’ve trained an AI system in AWAI Copyediting, Copywriting, and across many subject areas.

I use folders in Grok. Most AI systems will work great. I often ask for copyediting feedback and a revised draft. I use this approach for client projects as well as my own.

Splash Images

I use a variety of sources and Adobe Photoshop to create an image that conveys the message.

These images are essential for search listings, YouTube, and social media posts.

Google Search Console

I use Yaost in WordPress to optimize for search engines (SEO) and AI learning models.

Then I register with Google Search Console.

Registering with Google Search Console, combined with the steps outlined below, can help the page appear in search results within a few hours of launch.

Social Media

I use GoHighLevel to send messages across social media platforms, including LinkedIn profiles and pages, Facebook profiles and pages, Instagram, and more.

Sometimes I copy and paste the blog post, edit it, and send it. Or I will create an intro and a link.

Following Dan Kennedy’s guidance, there will always be a Call To Action with a link.

Video Streaming

I follow up the blog post with a related live stream using StreamYard Studio.

My streaming destinations are LinkedIn, YouTube, and many Facebook profiles and pages. More destinations are available through StreamYard.

The marketing tool in GoHighLevel can send the video to more destinations.

LinkedIn is my favourite connection platform.

Audio Podcasts

I can use the audio and transcript from StreamYard to syndicate an audio podcast through Buzzsprout.

Often, I paste and edit the blog post for use as the show notes. Adding the transcript can improve search results.

The word ‘podcast’ has come to describe a general ‘broadcast’, either video or audio. The usage is unhelpful as the platforms are quite different, with different distribution mechanisms and audiences.

Podcast destinations such as Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Amazon Music, Podcast Index, YouTube, iHeartRadio, and more.

The audio podcasts get to a different audience than the video broadcasts and social media.

And people can subscribe to your podcasts on most of these platforms.

Another bonus is that your episodes could also appear in search results.

Substack and LinkedIn Articles

Both Substack and LinkedIn articles show up online and in email to subscribers.

The blog post can be pasted in and edited, providing a quick way to reach another audience.

I connected my Substack account to my Buzzsprout podcast acount and Substack generated Substack posts from my podcasts.

Bonus!

Email

Email is still the best way to reach people who want to learn about your golden content and offers.

If not, they can simply unsubscribe.

Most content that would go into a blog post can also be sent via email for convenience to your audience.

I use Kartra for email, membership courses, video, surveys, landing pages, and more. I am one of the top experts worldwide on the platform and have helped many clients on the platform.

A three-month trial of Kartra is available now.

Book Publishing

There are many reasons for publishing a book, including leaving your insights and stories for posterity and opening doors for you and your business.

Putting a book on Amazon with Amazon KDP gives you a presence on the world’s largest book market.

Listing on IngramSpark enables book sales through bookstores and makes the book available for order in libraries and other outlets.

The content from blog posts can also be used in your books.

Shared Visions Unlimited and collaborators can help publish your books in multiple formats, including:

  • Print Book
  • eBook
  • PDF (great for lead magnets and printable resources)
  • Audiobooks
  • Digital Experience Editions (Kartra Memberships)
  • Flipbook.
  • Book Website.

Membership Courses

If you come to me with a book idea, I will also suggest developing a course.

The same goes for a course—could we publish a book on the topic?

My membership platform of choice is Kartra because it integrates text, video, audio, surveys, quizzes, payments, and more into a sophisticated multimedia membership course that performs better on smartphones than many dedicated apps.

GoHighLevel, Teachable, Kajabi, and other platforms are also worthy.

Media Articles

Sometimes your content would also find an audience through magazines, newsletters, radio, and television. Start with your local media outlets.

Publicity

The launch of a book, membership course, product, or service can attract significant attention through press releases.

Speaking

Speaking on podcasts, in broadcasts, at events, in networking meetings, and in front of interested groups can help bring your vision to the world.

Come be my guest on the Shared Visions Unlimited Show!

Not only is the universe stranger than we think, it is stranger than we can think.

Many people believe that humans are not limited by time and space and can communicate through practices such as prayer, meditation, and connections beyond conventional notions of the physical world.

Next Steps

I can help you plan and implement many of them.

The Writer’s Journey from Writing to Publishing with Two Penny Publishing

📔 Greg Dixon talks with Thomas Goodlet, Sr., owner of Two Penney Publishing, about his journey from music to running a book publishing company. And what your publishing journey would look like with Two Penney Publishing. 📚

As a writer, you have a lot of different options for publishing your book, from learning how to publish for free or nearly free with Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) and IngramSpark to Traditional Book Publishing.

The road to traditional publishing is long and nearly impossible for most authors. Most major publishers have self-publishing divisions. For example, Hay House Publishing has Balboa Press.

Two Penney Publishing provides an affordable middle option.

No matter which path you choose, the publishing journey includes a number of steps, including:

✅ Writing

✅ Editing

✅ Formating

✅ Illustrations

✅ Cover Design

✅ Marketing

✅ Submitting

✅ Audiobook Production

Greg Dixon’s Life Resume — Writing, Marketing, Music, Video, Education, Software, and Beyond

Greg Dixon meadow

I have a lifetime of diverse experiences, training, and adventures that have led people to ask me for help with their projects. Some of my best long-term projects came from people asking me to do things I had not done before.

My superpower is learning to do new things, combined with a wealth of knowledge and experience.

Typewriter, film rolls, book, and music notes.

Perhaps my job title could be Greg Dixon, Chief Enabler of Getting Stuff Done!

This is my Life Resume.

Education

  • In elementary school, I loved art and music.
  • I took a lot of science courses, such as Math, Physics, and Chemistry in High School. I was considering Chemical Engineering. History was one of my favourite classes.
  • At Capilano College, I deliberately took courses I did not take in high school, including English Literature, Biology, Philosophy, and Psychology. I also hung out in the Jazz Music program.
  • At the University of British Columbia, I considered majoring in Literature, Psychology, and Philosophy. I concluded that the best Psychology and the best Philosophy were found in great literature, so I pursued an Honours Degree in English Literature, with an emphasis on Russian novelists such as Leo Tolstoy and Fyodor Dostoyevsky. I considered pursuing a doctorate in Comparative Literature.
  • After our twins were born, Ann suggested I follow my interest in computers and software development with the Computer Systems program at the British Columbia Institute of Technology. I chose the Expert Systems specialty, including some of the early technologies leading to the dominance of search pattern matching and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
  • My natural interest in writing (and a recommendation by Dan Kennedy, the Godfather of Direct Marketing) led me to the American Writers and Artists Institute (AWAI). I have attended two copywriting bookcamps in Florida and one online. I have access to every course they ever offered and am working through them. That is a lot.
  • I also purchased many video and marketing programs from people like Andy Jenkins, Dan Kennedy, Dave Dee, Russell Brunson, Kim Walsh Philips, Eric Lofholm, and Marie Forleo.
  • Currently, I am loading much of the material into an AI system and using it for consulting and copyediting.

Between my training, experience, search mastery, and AI, I can figure things out very quickly.

Writing, Marketing, and Publishing

Setting aside audio and visual elements for now, virtually all publishing and marketing comes down to words — writing.

People find stuff primarily through the words used in titles, descriptions, and captions.

Despite never learning to type properly, I have written many millions of words over the decades, including:

  • Hundreds of essays.
  • Hundreds of websites.
  • Thousands of blog posts.
  • Many print magazine articles.
  • A corporate newsletter.
  • Thousands of social media posts, usually with a graphic.
  • Desktop publishing assets, including posters, business cards, and brochures.
  • Two books, with more in progress.
  • Roadmaps and planning documents.
  • Technical writing projects.
  • Poems and songs.
  • Story productions.
  • Video scripts.
  • Helped publish many books through Amazon KDP, IngramSpark, eBooks, Flipbooks, and multimedia Experience Editions. Also, video and audio projects.
  • Online courses and other training materials.
  • Search Engine Optimization (SEO). If you found this post through a search, it worked!

I am a natural fit for most copywriting, marketing, and publishing roles.

Audio and Video

An interest in capturing family stories and music events led me to buy a video camera. I have my 10,000 hours in with a wide range of video projects, including:

  • Family reunions and events such as weddings.
  • Music concerts.
  • Keynote presentations.
  • Church services.
  • Personal stories.
  • Training sessions.
  • Business introductions.
  • Landing page videos.
  • Livestream interviews and discussions.
  • Webinars and Funshops.
  • Food security and rescue projects.

Except for client videos, there are many clips on YouTube.

Even if distance makes it impractical for me to shoot live video, I am available for planning and editing.

Often, the audio from the video can be repurposed for podcasting.

I also like to offer text, audio, and video in online courses to match students’ preferences.

I will resume producing songs using Logic Pro and have plans for audiobooks.

Music

Music has always been a part of my life on and off.

That includes playing drums and bass in various pro and amateur bands, singing in choirs, recording and promoting musical acts, and recording songs.

Many of my decade-long business gigs have come through music connections.

My personal mission for this year is to inspire and educate people of all ages to explore music at all levels.

Software and Information Systems

My first job after learning Computer Systems was working for a large Systems Integration company called SHL Systemhouse, which was eventually absorbed into EDS.

I started as a programmer and grew into roles such as System Architect and Project Manager. I also managed the branch newsletter, writing most of the content. The company had an excellent internal training system that covered most aspects of systems development and support.

An introduction through a singer in The Strange Bedfellows led to decades of helping develop and market online psychometric systems for hiring and developing personnel at all levels.

The top system took many hundreds of data points from four hours of testing to create a multipage Management Assessment report. Our clients were mostly large communications clients.

If the owners had not aged out without a succession plan, we could still be running the company today.

Greg Dixon’s Most Fun Copywriting Projects

Computer keyboard and notepad. My Most Fun Copywriting Projects. Greg Dixon

Copywriting is a big word. Copywriting is simply the effective use of words for persuasion and communication. That covers most things that humans do — including marketing.

Here are some of the fun projects and niches I like.

I like to combine blogging, video, social media posts, and email to create a search-engine-friendly online presence that attracts people to special events and offers.

Concert and theatre tickets can be a fun project and easy sales. It is much easier to let people know where to find what they are looking for than to generate new interest.

In addition to music, I have a lot of interest in food security, green energy projects, real estate, healthy living, travel, and trading.

I also enjoy learning new things and creating content about them.

My background includes the study of English Literature AND computer systems, making me equally comfortable with a range of writing from story productions to technical documents and case studies. I have worked in many industries.

I also have an odd infinity for desktop publishing — things like posters and brochures.

I also do a lot of video work for marketing and education.

Do you have projects that could use help with copywriting, copyediting, or marketing?

What is your Fun Project?
